In great news for fans: The Sex Lives of College Girls season three trailer has officially dropped, and it looks like sophomore year is about to get messy.
For those not in the know, Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble created The Sex Lives of College Girls, which follows four college freshmen roommates navigating the ups and downs of campus life.
In Season 2, which ran in November 2022, our four fictional Essex girls dealt with love, friendships, and financial pressures. Leighton (Renée Rapp) was juggling multiple love interests, Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) worked on repaying her student loans, Whitney (ALyah Canelle Scott) faced down biochemistry studies, and Bela (Amrit Kaur) tried to launch her comedy zine.
What Is The Sex Lives Of College Girls About Season 3 About?
The Sex Lives Of Collect Girls Season 3 trailer starts with a veritable sea of shirtless men, and it seems like the girls’ classmates have returned to campus new and improved. “Little Greg” is now “Thick Greg” as Lila observes, “Look at all that titty meat he’s put on.” Cue scenes of partying, frolicking and ripping off random men’s shirts.
What’s happening for the girls outside their male peers’ glow-ups?
Bela is still trying to rally funny women and struggling with her miserable GPA. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Kimberly is setting optimistic goals. “I’ve chosen courses that should lead to becoming a Supreme Court justice by the age of 53,” she says. Good for her. Over-committed Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is shovelling espresso beans and trying to juggle her sorority, schoolwork, and soccer.
The girls seem booked and busy – will there be room for the sexcapades the show is famous for? Maybe not. “Who needs men when you’ve got good music, great vibes and the best gals?” Bela wonders out loud. While the sentiment is admirable, but somewhat undermined by the relentless montage of makeout sessions and shirtless jocks. If newly minted Hot Greg is anything to go by, there will be plenty of men in season 3.
Firstly, When Does The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 3 Come Out?
The Sex Lives Of College Girls will premiere on Friday, 22nd November, on Binge, releasing ten episodes across ten weeks.
What Happened In The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 2?
The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 ended on a dramatic note
When we left off, the girl’s friendships were under serious strain.
Kimberly kissed Whitney’s ex, Canaan, not knowing that a heartbroken Whitney was watching from a distance. Kimberly is oblivious, but Whitney’s kiss causes her to leave the household and move in with her Kappa sisters.
While Kimberly seems to have moved on in the trailer, cosying up with another mail-order handsome guy, it remains to be seen if Whitney has. Chalamet has hinted that this will be a major plot point.
Meanwhile, Bela was kicked out of her comedy group after she was cancelled online after she served a few brutal truths to an aspiring comedy writer. Bela approached the Dean for a transfer, but from the looks of the trailer, she seems to have decided to stay at Essex. But this is all TBC.
Leighton had come out with her dad, quit Kappa, split with her look-alike girlfriend Tatum and reconnected with ex-Alicia from season one. She didn’t follow through with her plans to move into the Kappa house, though, after an alumnus made some offhand offensive comments to her about queer and non-binary people.
Noble told a publication that they ended season 2 on an intentionally tumultuous note. “Mindy [Kaling], myself and the writers, we chose chaos at the end of season two,” he said. “And I think that is also a real thing that relationships in college go through. You have to learn your boundaries. You have to learn where you’re going to assert yourself with friendships [and] telling them what is and isn’t okay and what your needs are.”
Will Renée Rapp Be On The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 3?
In July 2023, Renée Rapp announced that she’d leave the show as a series regular after season 3. Deadline confirmed that Rapp would appear in “only a handful of episodes” in Season 3. Still, Justin Noble told a publication that it would be meaningful. “[She] definitely still has some lessons and room to grow ahead of her. She’ll be faced with a couple of big choices and have to make a couple of big decisions in all aspects of her life.”
What About The Rest of The Cast?
Some new faces are popping up in season 3, with actor Gracie Lawrence coming on board to play transfer student Kacey. “[She comes to Essex to be with her boyfriend who goes there,” Lawrence told the publication. I think that’s pretty much all I can say for now, but I think it’s fair to say stick around a little.”
Mia Rogers will also play a newbie: first-year British international student Taylor. Rogers described her as “…queer and proud and very loud about it, which is gorgeous.”
Other confirmed cast members include Michael Hsu Rosen, who has been cast in a recurring role as a student named Brian, and four other new students, played by Devin Craig, Ruby Cruz, Michael Provost, and Roby Attal.
