Goa Photo aims to take art out of the preserve of the gallery, as well as to revitalise heritage architecture. It will
roll out across capital city Panaji – large-format canvases will be mounted in the streets and across building facades amidst guided walks and workshops by Magnum Photos.

The Goa International Photo Festival (GPF) is organised by Shantanu Sheorey, veteran photographer and founder of the interdisciplinary One School Goa. Bardez will be turned into a world-class hub for enthusiasts to grow and deepen visual education.
Goa Photo sees heavyweights like documentary photographer Cristina de Middel, Max Pinckers (check out the Belgian photographer’s latest book Will They Sing Like Raindrops Or Leave Me Thirsty on love in contemporary India), visual artist and curator Gauri Gill, and photo-journalist
Meeri Koutaniemi (with a surprising fashion story).

GPF doesn’t lag behind, with Nat Geo documentary photographer William Albert Allard, Magnum veteran Martin Parr, fashion star Suresh Natarajan, Sheorey himself as well as young guns like Aparna Jayakumar and Prateek Dubey leading the line-up.
The inaugural edition of Goa Photo curated by Spanish photographer Frank Kalero is themed ‘The Other’ to explore the philosophical and emotional ways in which the photographer interacts with his subject to create new meaning.

Various themes run through GPF – the faces of Goa, the strange ways of the subcontinent, American idols as well as a World Press photo exhibit of photo journalism; ‘Faith’ is the theme of the open call for entries (hurry!).
