The Delhi chapter of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arrangements) is celebrating 50 years since its initiation with a special exhibit titled Myriad Hues. The exhibit will feature 150 floral arrangements by teachers and students of the art from all over the world. Besides flowers, they use other parts of the plants like stems, tree trunks and roots with objects like glass, stones and metal. Akane Teshigahara, the fourth Iemoto (headmaster) of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, Tokyo will be conducting workshops at the exhibit and will do an Ikebana demonstration at the finale. “I can communicate through my art, each artist’s personality reflects through Ikebana which is definitely something worth looking out for,” said Teshigahara.
The Finale will take place on February 29 at pm at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium, 89 Lodi Road, New Delhi. Myriad hues is on between February 28 – 29, Kamal Mahal, ITC Maurya Hotel, Sardar Patel Marg, Diplomatic Enclave, Malcha, New Delhi. 11am – 5pm
