Anavila’s theme this season was balance, reflected in her serene, subdued saris threaded with gold and silver.
A gold stripe across each model’s lip was a fresh touch; simultaneously edgy and elegant, and a perfect complement to the gold-accented saris.
Anavila’s commitment to handwoven linen continues; for this collection, she used a largely natural palette. Interweaving gold threads gave earthy saris a subtle shimmer. Evening elegance, without the bling.
Her broad scale plaids in blushing pastels were back again this season (with good reason: how can anyone tire of them?). And she gave us floaty tunics to live in!
Standouts included saris that played with geometry and lines: an ombre number in black and white, with a slim black border, and an iris blue sari with a deconstructed window pane check in silver.
