Bhumi Pednekar’s recent beauty looks on Instagram are proof that when it comes to make-up, there really are no rules. From abstract eye make-up to fluffy, full brows, it’s all about what works for you. The actor who recently starred in the movie, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare often drops beauty tutorials on her page and it is safe to say, she has some serious make-up skills up her sleeve. Want your eyes to take centre stage while wearing a mask? Add some graphic stars to emphasize your peepers. Looking for the best workout hairstyle that won’t budge? Go the pigtails way. Scroll further to know about the tricks we picked up from Bhumi’s beauty book …

Side part + Barrette = Hair goals

Seems like Bhumi loves ’90s and early aughts hair accessories as much as we do. Upgrade your side part by fastening a clip near the parting line so it isn’t hidden in a sea of strands.

Play with coloured underliner

Lining your upper lid may be your go-to make-up staple but if you’re up for something more experimental, try picking a pop of colour for your under-eye liner. Bhumi Pednekar paired a neon green and peach eyeshadow look with a vibrant pink on her lower lash line.

Dress up your nails

If picking a polish colour isn’t your strong suit, mismatched manicures will be right up your alley. Bhumi’s lavender and white nails feel even more playful thanks to the addition of jet-black stars on them.

Skin first, make-up second

Bhumi’s approach to beauty is obvious in her tutorials: Skincare is essential. The actor takes time to prep her skin before going in with any make-up. Celebrity make-up artist, Mitali Vakil, who often works with the actor says that Bhumi preps her skin with a face mist and icing. “Before we start, Bhumi uses an ice pack to de-puff her eyes and then I go in with an ice roller.” Moisturising is next and Mitali prefers using Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base for Bhumi’s sensitive skin and taps in Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Eye Rescue Cream into her under-eyes.

Fluff up and set your brows

“Bhumi has great brows so I don’t have to shape them much. I use wax to keep them in place and then top it off with powder. Make sure you distribute the brow product evenly so your brows don’t look patchy,” recommends Mitali. If you have sparse brows, invest in pencils or powders and use a spoolie to brush out any harshly drawn lines.

A rosy glow is in

“For this look, I used the same pigment on Bhumi’s cheeks and lips. It helped to tie the look together,” explains Mitali. Ever feel like your face eats up all the blush you carefully apply? The trick lies in setting your blush as soon as you’ve applied and blended it.
