It’s safe to say Disney has played an impactful role in all our lives. And in times of uncertainty and difficulty, turning to the soothingly familiar characters from Disney is a safe escape. Coach, as a brand, understands our love for the timeless childhood staple, and after having released numerous collections with a Disney-inspired aesthetic, its Creative Director, Stuart Vevers has taken it to the next level. By launching a kitschy collection featuring irreverent pop artist/activist Keith Haring’s Mickey Mouse themed artworks, Coach’s new collection is the perfect blend of wearable art meets playful.
Showcased in a campaign featuring Kaia Gerber, Cole Sprouse, Koki, Xiao Wen Ju and Myles O’Neal, the collection was set against the backdrop of Vancouver, Los Angeles, Guangzhou and Tokyo, in scenes intended to be reminiscent of New York in the Eighties, where Haring lived and worked. The special-edition collection celebrates Pop Art and is intended to reflect Haring’s belief that art should be for everyone, resulting in something that can only be described as culturally iconic.

The fun pieces from the collection, are nothing short of iconic. Offerings range from mini leather bowling bags topped with Mickey’s ears, block colour shearling jackets, totes and sweatshirts, and of course, two giant leather toys in the shape of Mickey Mouse, all accentuated with Haring’s bold line patterns. Something to note for art enthusiasts is Haring’s famous ‘Andy Mouse’; his artwork featuring his personal hero Andy Warhol drawn as Mickey Mouse featured throughout the collection.
And that’s not all – to introduce the collection, Coach created the Disney Mickey Mouse X Coach Exploratorium, an interactive digital experience where customers can watch exclusive videos featuring Gerber and Koki, learn more about Haring, Mickey Mouse and the collection, and create their own street art in Haring’s style. And while we may have our wish-lists almost full, we’re definitely making some space for this incredible new collection. PS: The collection is live now, so keep your credit cards on stand by.
