Nicolas Ghesquière, the women’s collections creative director at Louis Vuitton, is known for bringing his imaginative and futuristic vision to fashion. For LV’s pre-fall 2020 campaign, Ghesquière decided to cast 24 unique faces. And, one of them was Bollywood dreamboat Deepika Padukone. This is another milestone in Padukone’s wildly successful career, given that it’s the first time an Indian movie star is associated with one of the biggest French luxury conglomerates.
The campaign reimagines a series of horror books and movies and is designed with striking fonts and colours. The campaign also features stars like Sophie Turner, Léa Seydoux, Alicia Vikander and Chloë Grace Moretz. Deepika Padukone is dressed in a checkered black and white dress, a grey overcoat, a monogrammed belt bag and a pair of green quilted boots. The poster is titled, ‘Don’t Turn Around’, a young adult fiction thriller by Michelle Gagnon.
The campaign was launched after LVMH, owned by Bernard Arnault, bought the world’s second biggest diamond, the 1,758-carat Sewelô diamond in Botswana—perhaps the brand’s attempt to dominate the high jewellery market around the globe. This news followed after LVMH bought Tiffany for $16.2 billion. The luxury good conglomerate, headquartered in Paris, is already one of the most powerful companies in the world. But, with these game changing headlines, it’s set to reach newer heights in the new decade.
