#ELLECovidResource: NGOs & Organisations Providing Relief During COVID

Never has the power of a community coming together and helping each been as strong as it is now. As we get ready to battle the new wave of coronavirus, we’ve put together various crowdsourced lists* to help you with everything from food delivery services to shelters and dealing with your mental health. We will be updating these lists regularly. Bookmark these resources, and share them; you never know how they may end up helping someone.

In case you or your loved ones have tested positive for Covid-19 and are looking for help, or you wish to volunteer and donate to these NGOs and organisations, here is a country-wide list you can turn to.

Mumbai
1.Khushiyaan Foundation: Through its ‘Roti Ghar’ initiative, the foundation provides healthy and freshly cooked meals to children on the streets once a day.

2. The Jimme Foundation and Citizens for Justice and Peace: The organisation is working with sex workers in Kamathipura area of Mumbai to provide a month’s supply of food to their families.

3. YUVA (Youth for Voluntary and Voluntary Action): This NGO has been providing food to the slum dwellers and needy families of ice-cream sellers, garland makers, and waste collectors across Mumbai.

4. Oscar Foundation: The organisation provides grocery and sanitation kits to daily wage labourers from the unorganised sectors.

5. Cultivate Art Global: This organisation is conductiong the 'The Art for Change Sale' which consists of works donated by some of India’s promising emerging artists. 100% of the money raised will be donated to Legend Aid, Centre For Tranforming India and #ProjectSaans by Sukhmandevi Khanna Trust in collaboration with Citizens Aid Collective which are together distributing oxygen facilities.

1. Janaseva Foundation: The foundation distributes food packets and grocery items to street children and their families.

2. Donate Meal Pune:
The organisation is crowdsourcing dry rations and foods to serve police personnel who are risking their health while on duty. Contact: 9850830750

Delhi
1. Agewell Foundation:
The foundation provides necessary sanitation kits to the elderly in the slums with poor health conditions.

2. Prajna Foundation: The origination provides sanitation kits to the kids of migrant labourers, domestic help, drivers, cleaners, vegetable vendors and fruit sellers.

3. The Viva India Trust: Viva India provides food and hygiene relief kits to the families of daily wage workers, including construction workers, factory workers, roadside tailors, house helpers and rag pickers.

4. Save The Children India: Actor Huma Qureshi has teamed up with the NGO to help the city of Delhi combat Covid-19. The project aims to build a temporary hospital facility in Delhi with 100 beds along with an oxygen plant attached to it. It will provide medical kits and consultation for full recovery of patients. You can contribute by donating to this collaborative project via their Instagram profiles.

Bengaluru
1. Sampark: Sampark provides grocery and sanitation kits to the families of migrant workers. The grocery kit includes a mix of dal, rice, wheat and eggs and fruits.

5. Akshaya Patra Foundation: Working with the State government and district administration, the foundation aims to provide food to the needy in the city and across Rajasthan, Gujarat, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

1. Jan Jagran Kendra: Helping families from low-income groups, the organisation provides food and basic healthcare kits in both rural and urban areas.

1. Help Poor Voluntary Trust (HPVT):
HPVT helps those in need of urgent medical assistance and provides free medicines, ambulance services and financial assistance for treatment. The trust also runs a non-profit pharmacy from where citizens can buy medicines at cheaper rates.
