In addition to holidaying overseas, Miley Cyrus has been concentrating on work amid her separation from husband Liam Hemsworth. Just days after their split was announced, the 26-year-old pop star released a new song called Slide Away.
Earlier this week, Miley shared a photo of herself wearing headphones in a music studio sound booth, sparking speculation that new music was on its way. While this is the first song Miley has released since the separation, it is unclear when it was written or recorded. But if the song lyrics account for anything, the split has been in the air for quite some time.

Miley’s new song is explicitly expressive of the couple’s relationship with lyrics like “Once upon a time, it was made for us, woke up one day, it had turned to dust. So it’s time to let it go”.
Liam has chosen to be fairly tight-lipped about his breakup. Hemsworth took to Instagram to share that the couple had “recently separated” and “I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he added.
