Longines is taking on the role of timekeeper for the XX Commonwealth Games. At an event where every split second counts, this responsibility is crucial. But for a brand that shares a five-decade association with the Games, it’s a seamless partnership.
The XX Commonwealth Games is set to take place between July 23 and August 3 in Glasgow, Scotland. 71 teams from around the world are coming together to compete in 261 events in 17 sports. And that’s where the Swiss watch brand steps in – it will be providing the On Venue Results (OVR) service, which includes the handling, processing and broadcasting of the official times of each event.
The official watch of the Games is a chronograph in steel from the Conquest Classic collection, which is water-resistant to 5 bar and boasts an exclusive mechanical column-wheel calibre. Other sporting events that Longines has partnered with include the French Open at Roland-Garros, the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, the Alpine Skiing World Cup and World Archery Championships.
