Hold your horses! Luxe fashion label Hermès is all set to venture into the skincare and make-up market. The French design house will be launching a beauty line some time next year—and although the collection will be developed in-house, according to the Business of Fashion, the brand will outsource its manufacturing to third-party suppliers based in France and Italy, all of whom will be using plastic-free packaging.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t Hermès’ debut—the brand’s gorgeous fragrances (have we forgotten Twilly d’Hermès) and lone skincare product Eau de Pamplemousse Rose Moisturising Face and Body Balm are also well-know.
After labels such as Dior, Chanel and, most recently, Gucci tapping into beauty in a big way, the news that Hermès also has its sight set on this billion-dollar industry isn’t surprising. They haven’t divulged much information yet, but we can only hope that this line is another one we can add to our #lustlist.
