It is the land that has given us fashion greats like Christian Lacroix, Christian Louboutin and, of course, Coco Chanel, and you’ll soon be able to soak in the couture at France’s first-ever permanent fashion museum. Chanel is partnering with Paris to foot the bill for the construction of the new space inside the Palais Galliera, with a €5.7 million euro donation, according to reports.
While the Palais Galleria does cater to the stylish crew in Paris as a fashion museum, it currently only displays temporary exhibits. Work is in progress to construct a 7,211-square-foot area that’ll house a year-round exhibit dedicated to fashion’s history from the 18th century to today.
“This initiative represents a lasting commitment to creation and to the strength of Paris, which are at the heart of Chanel’s business,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel Fashion, in a statement. “Supporting an institution like the Palais Galliera is part of our mission to bring fashion history to life.”
