In a bid to support the fight against breast cancer, Wear Pink to Work Day is back on October 16 this year; the initiative has seen 230 companies and over 1,40,000 employees signing up for the cause over the past three years. In addition to having their employees wear pink to work, organisations make over their décor in shades of pink and add a blush tinge to their façades. They also conduct presentations by doctors, sponsor mammograms and organise ‘Pink Walks’. These may be small steps, but they can go a long way in generating awareness about breast cancer, and ultimately, preventing it.
Sonam Kapoor, the brand ambassador for the Ogaan Cancer Foundation, says, “Everyone seems to know someone with breast cancer – I lost an aunt to it. Detecting cancer early is the only way to fight [it] and that requires awareness about tests and a healthy lifestyle. I’m very happy to support the OCF team on this very special initiative, as they continue to show earnestness and a sense of dedicated purpose. I hope I can make a difference in my own way.”
