Beauty Hacks So Wacky You’ll Think I Made Them Up: Editor’s Top Secret Tips

Brace yourselves, because I’m about to drop some beauty wisdom that’s bonkers. Listen to me, these are secrets I have guarded for so long. Please consider yourself super special to me, because I haven’t shared these with anyone yet. In fact, when I was talking about writing it, is when I discussed just one of these tips with team ELLE and didn’t even tell them all three. So, get ready to have your mind blown and your beauty routine revolutionised.

1. Eye Cream as Lip Balm

I will say it, I am a chronic side and face sleeper. Yes, we keep talking about “beauty sleep” and gravity and wrinkles, but I do not get sleep unless I am a burrito on my side. It is what it is. While I am ok with everything else that comes with side sleeping, the long-lasting goopiness of a lip mask is something that leaves a bad taste (see what I did there?) Well, I’ve got eye creams. Eye creams are designed to provide hydration to sensitive areas, which automatically makes it great for your lips. I steer clear of eye creams with heavy actives so I don’t accidentally ingest anything but otherwise, it’s been working amazingly.

2. Hair Growth Serums for Brows

Sometimes if my diet isn’t right, or a hormonal glitch happens – my brows become scantier than they are. To top it off I don’t know what my family’s genetic pool is, but I also have blonde brows. Put that together and sometimes I just have NO brows. I have tried all oils and natural serums out there, but the conclusion is if you need hair to grow, you need activities that promote hair growth. I use a tiny bit of hair growth serum (preferably with redensyl), on my brows every 2 days when I am trying to grow them out. And then once a week for maintenance. The gap is important so there isn’t a dependency.

3. Hemorrhoid Cream for Puffy Eyes

This one’s a bit of a scandalous secret, but haemorrhoid cream works wonders for puffy eyes. Just dab a tiny bit under your eyes (avoiding direct contact with your eyes, seriously be super careful) to reduce swelling and bags. It also neutralises the dark circles. This vasoconstriction reduces swelling and puffiness. It’s an old pageant queen trick that’s surprisingly effective. This is a temporary solution of course, but it is a lifesaver when you have no-sleep mornings. What I like to do is just apply it while I get my coffee fix, and take it off after 10 mins. That’s plenty of time!(We’ll talk about the pageant comment sometime later, there is history to that).

Okay well, that’s that. All my secrets are out there, well not all, I’ve got more. If you’re nice to me, I’ll tell you a couple more!
