Who Wears The Pants? The New Celebrity-Approved Boxer Brief Trend Is About Ditching The Trousers

BANNER IMG (6)

Men’s underpants which were till now being tucked away in drawers, firmly saved for the non-judgemental eyes of the reluctant householders have now clambered out and are now being touted fashion’s next big thing. Our personal reservations of using inner wear as outer wear aside, these have now become new main characters. Of course, drawing a line becomes important when underwear becomes a trend, and we certainly don’t want to see tighty whities on our feed. Thankfully, the underwear that seems to have everyone panties in a twist are boxer briefs. The conventional male undergarment with a pinstripe pattern or solid colours has been labelled this season’s must-have style by some of the most IT girls on the Internet.

But it’s not only TikTok or Instagram that’s making them popular; high-end luxury brands like Prada and Hugo Boss have also showcased this fashion trend in their runway presentations. These boxers gained notoriety with ’90s hip-hop fashion when the branded waistline gained notoriety as a status symbol with brands like Calvin Klien or Miu Miu cashing in. In 2023, boxers are no longer only a practical item of clothing; now they are a gender-neutral, both men and women are wearing them as a fashion statement.

Bella Hadid

Last year the no-pants look was trending. While a day out for the legs on a sultry summer day is entirely welcome, it could seem wildly inappropriate out on the streets. Not if you style it well.  You can wear it with your sharp cut blazers, loafers or chunky sneakers. And to keep the comfort factor alive some wearers like to maintain the little bedroom vibe, choosing oversized button-downs and tank tops. It’s like that nightmare about going to a meeting without your pants, this trend is your opportunity to dress up like your stress dream (which sounds really not fun, though it is). Boxers are set to become your new go-to, whether you’re relaxing next to your air conditioner or out and about. And to give you some much needed inspiration we have jotted some of our favourite no- pant celeb looks:

Olivia Rodrigo

Before her sophomore album Guts debuts this September 8th, Gen Z music icon Miss Olivia Rodrigo shared some of her vacation pictures on Instagram with fans. In the dump images, Olivia appeared in a pair of baby blue boxer shorts in one of the several pictures. Yes, they are similar to the knickers seen in the men’s area. She paired her tiny briefs with a pair of black Adidas Sambas and white Nike socks to make a case for the cool-girl underwear-as-outerwear trend.

Bella Hadid

If it’s trending, it has be rocked by Bella Hadid. Fashion’s favourite girl also hopped on the trend while visiting a glass blowing workshop which she posted on her gram. The model donned some comfy white boxers with a blue loose fit style crop top.

Kendall Jenner

Miss Jenner loves to keep it comfy. Her pant-less fits are not new for the fans, her white boxer outfit included black Adidas Samba sneakers, pastel yellow boxer shorts, a ribbed tank top from her sister Kim’s line Skims, an oversized long-sleeve striped shirt along with some black microshades and a black leather tote bag from Kendall’s preferred label, The Row, which completed the understated look.

Vanessa Hudgens

The High School musical alum is known for her ultra-glam look, but for this appearance, Vannesa switched it up with a grey, oversized checkered jacket that had structured lapels and pointed shoulder pads. Hudgens paired her top with a pair of dark grey men’s shorts from Miu Miu to maintain her edgy vibe. The wide-leg bottoms had a thick black waistband with Miu Miu’s characteristic emblem stamped on them and were streamlined with checkered elements.
