With cemented IT girl status, there’s nobody doing it like Dua Lipa. When she’s not playing everybody’s favourite pop princess, she’s busy playing movie star (umm, Barbie and Alita: Battle Angel?) along with helming a weekly newsletter called Service95. While we’ve established that she’s quite the multi-hyphenate, we’ve also got to acknowledge the role she’s played in setting a barrage of trends, whether those are beauty or fashion.
Single-handedly responsible for making sleek hair cool again, Dua Lipa broke the internet more than once with her OTT looks. Her iconic hairstyles and hair colour choices have inspired a bunch of us to either rock a full head of pink or snip off some baby bangs.
Here’s taking a look at Dua Lipa’s pathbreaking hair decisions—
Water’fallin’ For Her
The waterfall fringe isn’t for everyone, but it’s certainly made for Dua Lipa. She debuted this hairstyle at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This one is supposed to mimic the viral ‘shag’ haircut whilst also framing the face.
Say Barbie
Yeah, we know Dua’s playing mermaid Barbie with bright blue hair in the anticipated Barbie movie. But how could we forget Dua’s iconic pink hair for her campaign with PUMA? Making Barbiecore mainstream before it was cool.
Retro Resurgence
Trust Dua Lipa to make Y2K hairstyles cool again. It’s no secret that baby braids are a celebrity hot favourite. Dua opted for face-framing baby braids with a very Gen-Z-esque middle parting. As a Gen-Z, I approve!
Blond Baby
We gotta admit, blonde Dua is our favourite Dua. All courtesy of her hairstylist Chris Appleton, she transformed into a blonde baby back in 2022 and convinced half of the Internet to do the same.
Rapunzel Loves Ebony
Who said Rapunzel had to have blonde locks? Dua Lipa strutted down the runway for Versace with her sporting sleek, jet-black hair that seamlessly matched the Versace vibe. We see a glimpse of Cher here.
Did Someone Say, Ginger?
Is there anything Dua Lipa can’t do? As she turned muse for Versace, Dua sported a baby fringe with ginger hair. Baby fringes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but Dua makes it work.
Cherry Moments
If anything could be a clear example of Dua Lipa going all out with her hair experiments, this cherry moment is it. A lockdown decision, she dyed her bob a popping hue of cherry red which was an exciting shift from her usual colours.
Reigning Queen
This MET Gala moment was one for the books, worthy of breaking the Internet for sure. Dua Lipa’s MET Gala debut had her rocking a glamorously dramatic updo which was adorned with exaggerated barrettes. Is it just me or does she look like a splitting image of Priscilla Presley here?
Two-Toned Blondes Have More Fun
Who doesn’t enjoy a spin on a funky hair trend? Even though Gemini hair might have been a recent trend, Dua did it first with her two-toned blonde and black e-girl streaks. Getting really nostalgic about her Future Nostalgia phase!
