ELLE Exclusive: I Tried Quench Botanics’ Snail Mucin Range For A Week, Here’s What Happened

If you’re like me and have a skincare routine that borders obsession, then you’ve probably heard about snail mucin. Skincare products with snail mucin have been selling like hotcakes. I’ve always been intrigued by its promise to rejuvenate the skin, but I never got around to actually trying it—until now. Quench Botanics just launched their snail mucin range, which includes the 92% Snail Mucin Collagen Boost Moisturizer and the 96% Snail Mucin Collagen Boost Serum; I knew I had to give it a go. Both products are infused with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, making them sound like elixirs for thirsty, damaged skin. After a week of daily use, I’ve got some thoughts, and let’s just say my skin’s been through a ride.

The Synesthesia

Starting with the packaging – both products come in sleek, sturdy glass containers that feel luxurious without being overly bulky. The serum has a convenient dropper, while the moisturiser comes in a classic jar, which, I must admit, looks cute.

The first thing I noticed when applying the serum was its texture—it’s lightweight but not watery, with just the slightest hint of the sticky consistency you’d expect from snail mucin. It glides on effortlessly, absorbing within seconds, leaving no residue or tackiness behind.. This was a huge win since I can’t stand anything heavy on my face, especially in the morning.

Conversely, the moisturiser is slightly thicker but still light enough to layer under makeup. It has a silky, almost gel-like consistency that feels incredibly soothing. One thing to note is the scent—or rather, the lack of it. Both products are fragrance-free, which is a blessing if you have sensitive skin or just prefer your skincare to be unscented.

The Ingredients

Both products are packed with high concentrations of snail mucin—92% in the moisturiser and 96% in the serum—which is known for its ability to deeply hydrate, promote collagen production, and repair the skin barrier. The addition of niacinamide is another plus; this ingredient is known for brightening skin, reducing inflammation, and minimising the appearance of pores. And, of course, there’s hyaluronic acid, a staple in any hydrating product worth its salt, which pulls moisture into the skin like a magnet.

The Routine

I decided to use both the serum and the moisturiser morning and night. After cleansing, I’d apply the serum, followed by the moisturiser. Even when I layered both products, I noticed that my skin never felt heavy or greasy, which was impressive. They worked well under makeup, too; no pilling, just smooth skin. After just a week, my skin feels significantly more hydrated. I didn’t notice any miraculous disappearance of fine lines—honestly, it’s too soon to expect that—but my skin feels better. I have oily skin, and it feels consistently soft and well-moisturised without that greasy feeling that usually creeps in by the afternoon. The niacinamide in both products also seemed to be doing its job; I woke up every morning with a healthy glow. I didn’t experience any irritation or breakouts, which is always a concern when introducing new active ingredients.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a hydration boost and a way to gently repair your skin, the Quench Botanics Snail Mucin Collagen Boost Moisturizer and Serum are worth a try. They’re gentle enough for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and layer beautifully with other products. While I haven’t experienced dramatic results in just one week, the initial improvements in hydration and texture are enough to keep me hooked. I’m excited to see what the long haul brings.
