Amidst the pandemic, the biggest fashion event in the country is all set to roll (and we’re here for it). With its first-ever digital and season-fluid version, Lakmé Fashion Week will be back in action from October 21 to October 25, 2020 with a promising line-up of shows, designers, webinars and more.
Put on your best dresses, grab a drink and take a seat on the front row because here’s everything in store at Lakmé Fashion Week October 2020.
DESIGNERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Open to all, this season will host an amalgamation of fresh, new talent along with some of the biggest names in fashion that will set an unparalleled benchmark in innovation, sustainability and creativity. Designers like Punit Balana, Aneeth Arora of PÉRO, Amit Aggarwal, Jayanti Reddy, Kunal Rawal, Urvashi Kaur, Sanjay Garg of RAW MANGO, Payal Khandwala, Anavila Misra and many more will showcase their collections and breath-taking fashion films this season.
GEN-NEXT SHOWS
This time around, the five-day virtual fashion extravaganza will be kickstarted by three emerging, home-grown labels which won the GenNext programme. Dhātu Design Studio by Anmol Sharma, MISHÉ by Bhumika & Minakshi Ahluwalia and THE LOOM ART by Aarushi Kilawat will make their debut at Lakmé Fashion Week this year. For the first time, GenNext will showcase a fully sustainable collection as LFW will celebrate Sustainable Fashion Day on day 1 and day 2.
VIRTUAL HUB
As LFW goes digital this time, here’s what you can expect: a showcase area called the ‘runway’ for all designer showcases, fashion films, webinars, a library to access show content ranging from BTS to snippets of shows as well as an interactive lounge that will allow you to engage with its latest beauty collection.
SHOP TILL YOU DROP
Lakmé Fashion Week will launch the ‘Virtual Showroom’ – a first-of-its-kind concept in India with an aim to support designers, artisans, and the business of fashion. Here’s what you can expect: enjoy a ‘See Now, Buy Now’ feature that will allow you to directly connect with the designer and purchase an outfit immediately after the show.
APART FROM SHOWS, WHAT’S ON THE AGENDA?
This season, LFW will extend its commitment to sustainable fashion by dedicating two days to the craft. Leading designers will come together to collaborate on the multi-designer showcase called All About India. Abraham & Thakore, Rajesh Pratap Singh for Satya Paul, Anavila, Suket Dhir, Payal Khandwala and Urvashi Kaur will be presenting key pieces from their collections to spotlight crafts like ikkat, block prints, jamdani, brocade, khatwa, shibori techniques and more.
