8 Makeup Trends That Are Going To Be BIG In 2023

Makeup

It’s officially our favourite time of the year, and we aren’t just talking about Christmas. It’s also the time when we start predicting makeup trends that will make a splash in the upcoming year. While we adopted the minimalistic less-is-more approach towards beauty during the pandemic, we see colour cosmetics making a major comeback. Needless to say, the trends are going to be fearless, bold, and unapologetically out there. It will be a year of makeup maximalism in terms of colours, graphics, and pigments.

2022 saw makeup enthusiasts opening themselves up to the realms of creativity and exploring colours and embellishments. According to us, the beauty forecast for 2023 is going to be filled to the brim with statement colours, dramatic brows and skinimalistic foundations.

Makeup Trends 2023

Breathable Base

If there’s one makeup trend that we’re gladly carrying to the future, it has to be the breathable base that looks and feels like a second skin. With skincare in focus, full-coverage foundations and concealers took a backseat. While it’s one’s prerogative, skin tints and breathable foundations offer you the best of both worlds with the ability to deliver sheer coverage and skincare benefits.

Embellishments All Over

We’re always going to be grateful to Euphoria for re-introducing rhinestones, pearls and all things sparkly into our lives! Close to home, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has also been spotted wearing the look on the Cannes red carpet. While embellishments with makeup may seem a little over the top, that’s the idea that we are stepping in 2023 with. These add a dash of bling to an otherwise simple makeup look, instantly making it stand out. We’re certainly going to be seeing a rise in the use of embellishments for makeup and we’re here for it!

Bleached Brows

A trend popularised by Kendall Jenner, bleached brows are risque but look chic. A number of A-list celebrities apart from Bella and Gigi Hadid to Julia Fox have been spotted sporting this one. Bleached brows add a massive high-fashion vibe to your entire persona, and who wouldn’t enjoy that? For those who are petrified of committing to bleach, using some concealer on your eyebrows does the trick too.

Yay Y2K

The Y2K resurgence is here to stay, despite making a raging comeback quite some time ago. Characterised by colours and shimmers, this makeup trend is all about allowing your creative side to unfold. Whether we’re talking about signature brown supermodel lips or icy blue eyeshadow, there’s nothing we don’t love about this trend, except the skinny brows of course!

Blushing Babes

Blushes have been the apple of everyone’s eyes lately— liquid blushes, cream blushes or stick blushes, we love them all! Trends like ‘I’m cold’ and ‘blush draping’ show that it makes for an essential part of our vanity. It not only accentuates the cheekbones but also adds a healthy pop of colour for a fresh look.

Glassy Temple Highlight

The blinding cheekbone highlight is as passé as skinny jeans! 2023 is going to be all about the glassy temple highlight. For those of you who happen to be perplexed about this, it’s all about applying a cream-based highlighter right from the temple to your orbital bone, so that it reflects, leading to a glass-like glow.

Statement Pinks

Barbiecore has become a part of our lifestyle now, all thanks to Valentino letting PP Pink into our lives. If there’s one colour that adds a hint of exuberance to any makeup look, it’s popping pink! Bold eyeshadow, graphic eyeliner or a striking pink blush, take your pick to play with pink.

Blurred Lips

While Korean skincare is definitely all the rage everywhere, Korean makeup isn’t far behind. Blurred lips is a Korean makeup favourite and offer a natural look, with the lip colour in the centre of the lips and diffused edges. Not only is this extremely easy to recreate, but it also looks effortless and can be created with a variety of lip colours.
