We give you a list of new movies and shows to watch on streaming platforms before the month ends.
1. The Fame Game
We often see Madhuri Dixit Nene shine in romantic dramas or are in awe of her graceful dance performances. Off late though, the actress has been choosing the unconventional route–this time she makes her OTT debut with a thrilling series! Set against the backdrop of the glam Bollywood world, The Fame Game follows the story of actor Anamika Anand (Madhuri) who goes missing. But everything is not as it seems. Anamika’s family and friends soon unravel the dark side to her fame and fortune as they set out in search of her.
Releasing on February 25 on Netflix
2. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4
The hit series follows the story of how a housewife Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) wants to make a career in stand-up comedy. While that is something that is accepted in today’s society, the show explores this theme in the 1960s when women’s careers were dismissed and they were directed to house chores. It’s a show that truly shatters the glass ceiling as the character breaks stereotypes in a patriarchal society. Season 3 sees Midge reach her peak but ends with her downfall as she’s kicked off from her stand-up tour with Shy Baldwin following some poor jokes that risked outing his sexuality. The synopsis of the upcoming season reads, “It’s 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft – and the places it takes her – creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her.”
Releasing on February 18 on Amazon Prime Video
3. The Proud Family: Prouder And Louder
Almost 17 years after it went off the air, the Proud family comes back in full swing and this time, they’re louder and prouder! The animated series explores the daily life of 14-year-old Penny Proud as she navigates her teenage years. The revival series will take on topics relevant to today’s bigger conversations such as identity, social media, and growing up in today’s world while staying true to its core.
Releasing on February 23 on Disney+ Hotstar
4. A Thursday
Although it borrows the essence from A Wednesday, A Thursday isn’t related to the 2008 thriller in any way. What you’ll see though are good performances, especially from Yami Gautam who is unmissable in this one. The star often plays the female lead as the doting wife or the girl next door. But the tables turn in A Thursday–she portrays the antagonist and truly stands out. The plot? A playschool teacher Naina Jaiswal (Yami) turns into a hostage-taker and abducts 16 children. She starts making demands that create a rift in law and order situation and also takes the most prominent personality of the country in her clutches.
Releasing on February 17 on Disney+ Hotstar
