What’s the craziest ingredient you’ve considered for your products?

Dhruv Sayani: I’d have to say rice water. It’s a surprisingly underused ingredient, even though it’s been known for centuries to benefit hair health. Hardly anyone in the industry talks about it, yet it’s so effective. We’re excited about the potential of rice water and are working to integrate it into future products.

If you could create a signature scent for your products, what would it smell like?

DS: Watermelon! Since we’re all about natural products, a fruity note like watermelon just feels right. It’s refreshing and aligns with the vibrant, natural feel of our brand.

How would you describe KT Professional in three words?

DS: Effective, aggressive in quality, and affordable luxury.

Is there a hair myth you’d love to debunk?

DS: Yes, the belief that you don’t need conditioner—especially among men. People think if they’ve shampooed, they’re good to go, but conditioner is essential. Another misconception is that any good hair product can fix damage; for real repair, you need keratin-based products. Hair is mostly keratin protein, so it makes sense to use a protein-based shampoo for the best results.

Who would be your dream brand ambassador or muse?

DS: If we go global, I’d love to have Jennifer Lopez as our brand face. She embodies timeless beauty and confidence, which perfectly aligns with KT Professional’s values. On the local front, we’re already close to finalizing an exciting brand ambassador here in India!

What do you think people misunderstand most about hair care?

DS: Three things: First, the importance of being sulfate-free. Many don’t realize the harm chemicals can cause. Second, what “organic” truly means—organic products should be free of sodium, chloride, and parabens. Finally, people often think that one salon treatment will transform their hair, but regular, consistent care is key, just like it is with skin or dental hygiene.

What is a fun fact about KT Professional that most people wouldn’t know?

DS: I started this brand in my late twenties due to my own hair issues! Discovering the importance of protein for hair health led me to build KT Professional, so the journey has been quite personal.

Do you have a favourite product in your line?

DS: The Fit Hair Serum. It’s my go-to for maintaining hair health and preventing early thinning. I’m a little biased toward it, and I always keep some on hand!
