From strutting on the streets of New York in oversized Bulls jersey to taking over Paris in a diaphanous lingerie set—only Rihanna can do a sartorial 360 in maternity, all in a month’s time. When I am not googling ‘how to be reborn as Rihanna’s baby?’ I am busy bookmarking her looks for days I want to dress bold after a heavy past lunch, here are the top 5 I absolutely loved.
1. Dominatrix
If the buzz around Gucci’s in-person show after 2 long years wasn’t enough, Rihanna walked in looking like a dominatrix. Dressed in a latex bralette, low-rise jeans with a side of dragon, faux-fur cape and disco-inspired headgear—she looked like she was ready to party.
2. Animal Print With A Side Of Denim
Trust Rihanna to wear not just a teeny-tiny cropped top but a tie-up version of that, showing off her glorious bump. She layered that with a leopard print/denim patch jacket, a baseball cap and a Dior saddle bag for a casual night out in the city.
3. Glam & Glitter
Doing the exact opposite of what maternity style generally entails, Rihanna’s choice of ensembles have been tastefully chaotic. Case in point: She attended a Fenty Beauty Universe event in a bright green metallic fringe top and ombre pink fringe trousers by Attico. She quite literally shined bright like a diamond.
4. All Black Everything
There was definitely a glitch in the Matrix when Rihanna stepped out looking like THIS. Riri in this black criss-cross sweater and black leggings is giving me the confidence to finally wear a top with a modest peek-a-boo that I buried in the back of my closet.
5. Sporty Chic
For Superbowl 2022, Rihanna, unlike other celebrities, ditched the athleisure memo and went for something that was sporty yet chic. She paired her deep blue Balenciaga bomber jacket with a sheer blue patchwork shirt and layered it on lacey blue lingerie. Washed out grey denim and rectangular framed white sunglasses perfectly punctuated her look.
