I’ve plenty of style file bylines to my name – comes with the title of being a fashion journalist. Tracing the fashion journey of international pop-stars, supermodels, Bollywood biggies and the likes. Frequently on the hunt for folks breaking the mould when it comes to their fashion and aesthetic sensibilities, it was imperative I cover Sunidhi Chauhan’s spanking new ascent as a style icon.
You see, we’ve adored her music for as long as one can remember. And of late, because of Sunidhi Chauhan’s #IAmHomeTour, us fans are now witness to the rousing performer’s incredible sartorial taste as seen through her impeccable fits on stage, styled by Saumya Thakur. Let’s browse through some of her standout looks in recent times.
Some commotion for this smokin’ hot bodysuit by Namrata Joshipura, por favor. What looks like a diligent usage of midnight-hued floral patchwork, the cut and silhouette of this outfit seamlessly compliments Sunidhi’s fiery personality.
Easily the favourite when it comes to performing on stage, catsuits have quickly climbed the ranks all thanks to Taylor, Dua and multiple other popstars favouring the sultry silhouette. Here’s Sunidhi’s shimmery, halter-neck version.
Another one! This time it’s a sheer black number by Namrata Joshipura (seems like the two have hit it off), adorned with an overlay of foliage inspired multicoloured motifs throughout.
Velvet, leather, fishnet and gold. Okay, but this concoction surprisingly ticks all boxes despite the clashing of multiple textures and elements. Indicative of good styling, the singer wore this for her set in Goa for the Las Olas fest.
Love me a good chainmail moment. Paired with a latex pants and a bra underneath, this outfit sure arrives with Nirvana’s stamp of approval given it’s grunge aesthetic.
A denim boiler suit by designer Narendra Kumar? Sign us up. Paired with glaring red pumps and hoops, Sunidhi does ample justice to this streetwear ensemble on stage. The fact that it looks incredibly comfy is why I’ll be spending my next 30 minutes on the label’s website.
It’s giving provocative punk, it’s giving grunge icon from the 90s. Borrowing heavily from the rockstar aesthetic, this ‘dominatrix takes over the stage’ look is something we’re certainly digging and bookmarking for our concert fits inspo board.
Spotlight on this sequinned bralette situation with the overcoat – it’s practical, easy to replicate and does the job well. The glam on this one deserves a special mention. Soft yet striking.
Spotlighting heritage Indian techniques like leheriya, Sunidhi dons a fusion coord set by indie brand Matcha Pret.
