Zendaya Gets A Hair Transformation And Proves That Honey Blonde Is Here To Stay

If there’s one actress who isn’t slowing down anytime soon, it’s Zendaya. Her historic award-winning performances in Euphoria, Spiderman: No Way Home and Dune have earned her a spot in the cinematic excellence category, all at the age of 27. Apart from this, her red carpet appearances throughout the years have been consistently breaking the Internet and how! Whether we look at her wet dress moment at the Venice Film Festival in 2018 or her iconic sari moment at the opening of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre—every outfit was breathtaking and sent most of us into a frenzy.

While most pay close attention to her sartorial fashion choices, a select few like me always have our eyes on all the beauty decisions she makes. Reverse cat eyes, auburn blonde hair, striking red lips or even micro bangs—there’s nothing Zendaya can’t do. Fresh off the heels of her Dune 2 press tour, she has now begun the tour for her newest movie, Challengers. Hint: In case you forgot, there’s an infamous threesome scene in the movie trailer which took the Internet by storm. After walking the red carpet for the premiere in Sydney with a blonde bob, Zendaya proved that nobody does hair transformations like she does.

Zendaya’s Hair Evolution

If one takes a look at Zendaya’s hair evolution, one fact is certain—she enjoys playing around with a variety of styles and colours. Way back in 2015, Zendaya chose pulled-back locs for the Oscars, a style that matched her white Vivienne Westwood gown. Then in 2017, we saw her transform into a beachy blonde with a pixie cut for the 2017 Fashion Awards. All of us certainly remember her appearance at the 2018 MET Gala with her orange fringe and bob inspired by the Joan of Arc. Then arrived her scarlet brown hair reminiscent of old Hollywood at the 71st Emmy Awards in 2019. Her long, delicate cornrows at the 2021 premiere of Spiderman: No Way Home were inspiring for millions of women of colour all over.

Who could forget her honey auburn tresses at Valentino’s Womenswear Fall/Winter 2022/2023 show? Here she opted for a classic lob with a voluminous blowout that certainly brought big hair back! Then came her chocolate silk era which she seemed to enjoy for quite some time. So it’s safe to say that Zendaya doesn’t shy away from a wacky hair experiment.

Her Latest Experiment

Zendaya decided to let go of her signature chocolate silk style for a lighter and shorter vibe. Certainly, she wanted to shake things up after her Dune 2 press cycle for the Challengers press tour. What better hue than a stunning honey blonde to hop on that bandwagon? Her newly lightened hair was styled with soft, tousled curls with a face-framing side parting. The cosy blonde hue is multidimensional with various shades of blonde coming into play, making it extremely natural-looking on Zendaya.

If you thought you’d spotted this stunning hue before, you have—Rihanna, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, everyone seems to be obsessed with this hue. When Rihanna decided to break the Internet with her honey blonde transformation, we predicted that it would be the IT colour of 2024 and here we are. It’s a warm colour compared to its ash-blonde counterpart. We call it multidimensional because this colour sees lots of variants of blonde and brunette, making it easy for individuals of different skin tones to sport it. The brunette appearances add a lot of depth and dimension to a blonde that would otherwise seem flat.

Being a versatile hue, there are several ways one can choose to sport this colour. Like Zendaya, you can choose to go heavy with the brown to retain some depth on your hair. If you’re looking for something more stark, Rihanna’s honey blonde is perfect for you. Since I enjoy having the best of both worlds, Jennifer Lopez’ iconic honey blonde balayage has been on my radar for quite some time now.

Always Remember

Honey blonde is a versatile hue that suits multiple skin tones, however, it’s best to consult with your hair colourist on the levels of blonde or brunette you should be playing around with. Once you’ve dipped your toes in honey-blonde waters, it’s important to take consistent care of the colour. Opt for bond repair treatments and products that are designed to penetrate deep into your hair and repair all of the damage caused by the blonde. So, has Zendaya convinced you to book that salon appointment yet?
