We can imagine Deepika Padukone doing a lot of things. Waking up looking like she can walk down a red carpet without any fuss? Yes. Asking her magic mirror if she has the longest legs in town? Yes. Indulging in a plateful of rich, rich chocolate cake just before she steps out in front of a whole country of critics waiting to analyse every strand of hair on her head and speck of lint on her couture gown? That’s maybe going a bit too far.
We’re not saying that Deepika Padukone shouldn’t eat chocolate cake. It’s every human being’s basic right. It says so right in our constitution, just below ‘Right to Choose’. It’s in fine print so most people miss it.
But Deepika, it’s time for some real talk. Is this really your pre-Cannes diet? Because if it is, then we’ve been living in sin our whole adult lives. That time we refused a decadent piece of brownie weeks before we knew we had to fit into an unforgiving dress for our third cousin’s uncle’s wedding. Or all the times we chose to skip dessert. Skip. Dessert. What a waste.
We need answers, Deepika. And we need cake.
