ELLE: Tell us a little about this collaboration.

Rimzim Dadu: The idea of this collection is to create something that goes beyond what we are used to as a couture house. The collection plays on our similar aesthetic of stellar techniques to clean cuts, sharp silhouettes and statement surfaces bringing forth a thoughtfully refined fashion narrative to flaunt and treasure. Finding inspiration in the megawatt mood of the season the colour palette echoes with electric blues, an evocative crimson red, deep purple, molten metallics and classic black and navy. Amped up with striking finishes like sharp pleats, reflective foil prints, sweeps of shimmer, and edgy metal embellishments, the clothes are crafted to follow the disco dress code.”

Shivani Poddar: “We as a fashion house have always endeavoured to democratize fashion by bringing our audience everything that is current, trendy and relevant at highly affordable price points and our collaborative collections with designers serve to strengthen this tenet. Each season we collaborate with a designer who not only has a unique design language and strong signature but also has a modern sensibility that we can incorporate into our own design DNA.”

ELLE: Rimzim Dadu is known for its engineered couture pieces and FabAlley is a popular high street label, how was it working together and combining the two aesthetics?

RD: “The idea was to amalgamate our signature sharp silhouettes with FabAlley’s inclusive and fashion-forward approach. Their ideology of inclusivity is something that resonated the most when it came to creating this collection, as it would showcase the diversity of our product and create something new & young. It’s exciting to make something for a larger & mainstream audience and make it accessible to them with Faballey, a quality fashion brand for a larger demographic.”

SP: “From the very start, both brands were clear that the collection should be able to translate Rimzim’s signature into a commercial and affordable line that appeals to the millennial Indian woman. Working backwards from there was a learning experience. It started with discussing FabAlley’s audience and what sells best on the website and at our retail stores. With a clear understanding of that, the two brands came back with their takes on how Rimzim’s techniques and silhouettes could appeal to a wide variety of people, and the end result is now a beautiful mix of signatures of both brands.”

ELLE: Your favourite pieces from the collection?

RD: “Pieces with standout elements like the silver pleated A-line dress with an embellished belt or the co-ord sets presenting shimmer, prints, texture and embellishments. I would say these are staples one can consider adding to their party wardrobe. Glamorous details like shoulder-baring necklines, risqué slits, body-hugging fits and asymmetric hems are never to be shied away from at any soirée.”

SP: “My favourite piece from the collection is the electric blue shimmery crop top and skirt set. It beautifully hugs and flatters the body and has a sexy slit that adds that extra oomph.”
