Rediscovering A State Of Gioia
In 2020, with time aplenty to reflect and refocus their priorities, co-founders Diksha and Vashisht Bhatia took a step back, reconstructing Gioia’s core philosophy to incorporate greater values of care and consideration.
They honed in on leather as a durable and biodegradable material that aptly conveyed their dedication to sustainability. Following in the footsteps of their parent company D2 International, a renowned leather goods export house, the Gioia team decidedly sourced their full-grain leather from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries.
Later, it is examined using the rigorous BLC Leather Technology standards. They conduct tests such as colour fastness to rubbing (CFR) to prevent colour bleeding, tape adhesion tests to ensure a premium surface finish, and acetone rub tests on hardware to prevent tarnishing. They also go a step further to ensure that the leather, based on their environmental performance, is a recycled byproduct of other industries, while also being of excellent quality. As such, Gioia ensures that their leather goods are truly luxurious and a reflection of the wearer.
Today, Gioia is a pan-Indian phenomenon—a luxury brand that is designed to be a constant source of joy. Furthermore, their retail presence can be seen in offline stores located far and wide. Primarily, they take centre stage in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata and at their flagship store in Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla in Mumbai, launched in April 2023. In the forthcoming months, they intend to expand further by inaugurating a store at the Mall of Asia in Bangalore in August 2023.
