Team Gaurav Gupta is on a roll. Queen B, for her Renaissance tour has been sporting custom creations by the couturier frequently thereby making a case for Indian fashion in Hollywood’s tightly guarded circles. Not that Gupta needs a stamp of approval from celebrities, far from it actually, but Beyoncé’s sartorial outing knocks it out of the park – such is the glory of the Crazy In Love hitmaker.
Coordinated by Hema Bose of Maison Bose Communications, the multi-faceted forewoman behind the luxury communications organisation, this synergy tops her previous placements for the brand, and for obvious reasons.
Hooded Highness
Titled the Moondust Crystal Encrusted Orbit Gown from Gaurav Gupta’s ‘Hiranyagarbha’ collection showcased at Paris Couture Week Autumn Winter 23/24, the elaborate floor-length piece highlights his twist-and-sculpt 3D insert, a USP of the maison.
Featuring a hood, a single sleeve and a mini cutout at the cleavage, the construction balances the scales when it comes to Gupta’s sensibilities and Beyoncé’s proclivities for such silhouettes.
Pick Up Limes
For another performance at her ongoing world tour, Queen B opted for the Neon Green Athena Sari. Expanding on this particular look, the designer added, “We, at Gaurav Gupta, are deeply inspired by this almost mythological tradition of drape and have tried to interpret and innovate with it in our own sculptural ways. For Beyoncé’s opening look in Atlanta at this iconic global tour, she shines in ethereal electricity, chiffon drapes of Athena with Orbiting satin sculpting.”
Sculpted Siren
And the one that started it all. Spotlight on the Infinity Crystal Bodysuit paired with the Crystal Legging Boots – this custom look styled by Karen Langley was a futuristic interpretation and lives up to Gaurav Gupta’s ethos of ‘future primitive.’ The ensemble featured a voluminous sleeve insert and swirls tracing the contours of her body, highlighting the meticulous, fail-proof construction the label is revered for.
