We’re officially crowning Hailey Bieber the queen of beauty trends. The popularity of her ‘glazed donut nails‘ and ‘latte-girl makeup‘ are proof enough that anything she does, becomes a trend, and that her love for food is real. So all thanks to just one of her posts with the caption “strawberry girl summer 🍓”, another one of her makeup looks has been making the rounds with yet another delicious name–strawberry girl makeup.
Honestly, the makeup look is essentially a dewy base with a lot of blush and has been around for a long time. But that’s not to say that giving it a new name and reintroducing it to us makeup enthusiasts doesn’t make us want to try it out ourselves. I get it, these trends can be quite overwhelming, but they can also be fun to replicate. So, here’s me bringing to you my interpretation of the strawberry girl makeup look-

Breaking Down The Strawberry Girl Makeup
In addition to her Instagram post, Hailey Bieber also posted a TikTok GRWM video in which she used the Rhode Glazing Milk and Peptide Glazing Fluid to prep her skin. The combination of the two essentially gave her a hydrated and dewy base. To achieve a similar look but add a little more coverage than Mrs. flawless skin, I used the e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid Filter. This gave me that natural-looking glow while creating an even base for the rest of my makeup.
I then used the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer to spot conceal. Instead of going overboard and drawing triangles under my eyes, I just used it in the spots I needed it the most by dotting it under my eyes and around my mouth.
Now for the part that puts the ‘strawberry’ in ‘strawberry makeup’, the blush! In the same GRWM video, Hailey Bieber mixed two pink blushes to make an almost red-looking concoction. What’s even more interesting is that she kept the names of these blushes a secret. So, are we to assume that Rhode is expanding into makeup and is coming out with blushes?
I used the Benefit Cosmetics Benetint to give me that flush of red across the cheeks. I won’t lie, I did go a little overboard with the blush. But because the essence of this makeup look lies in this very step, this worked in my favour. Along with focusing the blush on the apples of my cheeks, I also applied some across the nose. This made the blush look less like makeup and more like I had actually been out in the sun. Some blush also went on the outer corners of my eyes, connecting to the blush on my cheeks. I also used the same blush on the lips and buffed it out with my finger, just like Hailey did.
You could top this up with a layer of lip gloss or a glowy lip balm, or keep it matte.
Moving on, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wand to further highlight my cheekbones. I also added some to the bridge and tip of my nose, as this is where the sun would naturally hit my face. Remember that we’re trying to achieve the look of being out in the sun all day with this makeup look.
To lengthen and separate my eyelashes, making them look fluttery, I used the Huda Beauty Legit-Lashes Mascara. I then feathered out my eyebrows and set them in place using the Benefit Gimme Brow Gel. I did, however, skip the faux freckles bit of the strawberry girl makeup trend, even though they are an important step of this look. Click here to know why.
Final Verdict
Even though I’ve worn a dewy makeup look with a lot of blush in the past, recreating this trend taught me a thing or two. I loved how my skin felt without layers of foundation and concealer, and how the blush on my cheeks connected with that on my eyes. I think my one major takeaway would be using my blush as a lip topper because I love the monochromatic look this technique creates!
