Beauty Editor’s Picks: ‘I Got Backup’ Edition

BANNER IMG (3)

This started out as being an ‘empties’ edition of all the products I have used and emptied out this month. While that could’ve been a great thing – there’s another thing that’s better than empties, and that’s having two or more backups because you love the product that much and you’re afraid it will go out of stock. I’ve done that a lot with lipsticks, especially when I had found a flattering shade and then brands started discontinuing shades. But this month I have a nice collection of products I’ve gotten in doubles because I don’t think I want to find out what happens if I don’t have those products anymore. There will be a common theme, this will be a lot of lip products (I am addicted to lip balms, we will unpack that at some point), a lot of moisturisers and then one other random product that you wouldn’t think of having multiples of. But that is how my mind works, and that’s that.

Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment – Watermelon Slice

I’ve heard all about this becoming gritty over time – but it hasn’t happened yet. This has been one of the most hydrating lip balms I have used and when I got my hands on it, it was one of the only ones with watermelon scent and peptides. I got two, I am currently about to finish with the first one, and I will get another one as soon as I move to the second tube.

Available on Rhode Skin

FAE SPF Juice

I have been using this since it was launched. I will always have an extra one in my drawer. It is light, doesn’t leave a white cast and is non-sticky – I go through tubes of these and two is the bare minimum count in my drawer.

Available on Fae Beauty

Lancome Juicy Tubes

This is a teenage obsession I cannot and do not want to get rid of. When Lancome discontinued this earlier, I was on my last one and didn’t get any other until they relaunched a couple of years ago. I got one from a friend and then someone (I do not want to name and shame, but if you ask me I will tell you), “borrowed it” and lost it. So now when I had the chance to pick it up, I got a couple. I am not going to stop using these.

Available on Lancome

Marvis Cinnamon Mint Toothpaste

I love Cinnamon in everything, including my toothpaste. I still haven’t found a replacement for this here, suggestions are welcome. But yes I have multiples of this even though nobody else uses this one apart from me. BUT I feel weird about cinnamon toothpaste not being available to me later. Yes, we’ve established the kind of person I am and we will just live with it.

Available on Lookfantastic

Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream

Do you want glass skin and don’t have super oily skin – this is your night cream. It is Nivea but better. I use it on my face, as a cuticle cream, as a thick lip mask after lip basting, for cracked heels and elbows and wherever else I need a little TLC. It is always at the top of my list whenever someone asks if I want something from overseas.

Available on Weleda

Makeup Revolution Rehab Plump & Tint Lip Blush

I got this one because of the packaging, plain and simple. I didn’t think I would get multiples. But I love the subtle tint it leaves behind. Usually, I’m not too fond of most PH tints because they leave this outline while the rest of the tint wears off, not a big fan of the only lip liner look. This one though leaves a soft tint – and wears off evenly. The hydration is also not bad.

Available on Nykaa

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil

I have multiples, and if someone around me gets it, I take it from them. I also will hover around this product at the airport. I have always double-cleansed my body (before it was even a trend), and this is the best thing as a second step. The scent isn’t overpowering, the emulsification leaves my skin SO soft. I have nothing bad to say about it. I will hoard this forever till the end of time.
