ELLE Tries: The Haircare Routine Ft. Wella Professionals That Made My Hair Flip-Worthy

BANNER IMG

I’m one of those people who perennially forgets that hair needs love too. After all, when your skincare is a full-time job, there’s little space left for haircare in the beauty routine. But then came Wella Professionals’s new Ultime range, and let’s just say, I’ve had a serious “AHA” moment, literally. This range has four products and they pack a punch: a Shampoo, an Intense Repair Hair Mask, a Miracle Hair Treatment Serum and a Miracle Night Hair Treatment Serum, all infused with AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) and Omega 9. AHAs work wonders for your skin, sloughing off dead cells and bringing that glowy, dewy finish. But for my fried ends and lacklustre locks? Let’s just say I was intrigued (and slightly sceptical). So, for the sake of science, beauty, and my own hair’s cries for help, I gave this range a whirl. Here’s what went down.

First Impressions

Let’s talk packaging. Wella is clearly aiming for that “luxurious but minimalistic” vibe here, and I’m all about it. The pop of red and sleek design makes these bottles look right at home on your bathroom shelf. If nothing else, you’ll feel like you’re about to give your hair a high-end spa treatment—and sometimes, isn’t that half the battle?

The Cleanse & Repair Shampoo

The first thing I noticed? The smell. None of that overly perfumed, “trying too hard to smell like a rainforest” nonsense—just a nice ‘out of the shower’ scent. Now, when I saw AHA in the shampoo, I expected something that might feel harsh, almost like it’s scrubbing your scalp. Instead, this was one of the most gentle cleanses I’ve experienced in a while. My scalp felt refreshed, and my hair wasn’t left feeling stripped of moisture—because, you know, hydration is key if you don’t want your hair looking like straw. I was surprised at how lightweight and soft it felt, even while wet (a rarity for my frizz-prone locks). I usually expect shampoo to give me that “squeaky clean” feeling, but this one walked the perfect line. Honestly, it felt 12x smoother and had 99% less breakage.

The Repairing Intense Hair Mask

I’m not exaggerating when I say this mask is like a deep-conditioning spa day for your hair. Consistency-wise it is creamy and indulgent. I applied it generously (because if I’m going to do a hair mask, I’m going all in), and left it on for a while I mentally prepared for shinier hair. After rinsing it out, I was hit with what I can only describe as the ultimate softness. The Omega 9 really shines here, deeply nourishing each strand, while the AHA gently works to repair the damage I’d inflicted through years of heat styling.

The Miracle Hair Treatment Serums

The Miracle Hair Treatment Serum is exactly what the name suggests, Wella didn’t come to play with this one. I don’t want to feel like I’ve coated my strands in oil slick, but I also need something that smooths everything out. This serum somehow manages to do both, thanks to the AHA and Omega 9. My usual frizz was kept at bay, and my hair looked glossy in under 90 secs. Even after styling, my hair felt soft, hydrated, and smooth. This serum is a keeper. Lastly, the Miracle Night Hair Treatment works wonders even on dry hair! This treatment is a game-changer for anyone looking to rejuvenate their locks overnight. I applied it before bed and woke up to noticeably softer and more manageable hair. It seems to work its magic while you sleep, leaving your strands feeling nourished and revitalised by morning.

My Verdict

Wella’s Ultime range is a must-have. If your hair’s been through it (like mine has), you owe it to yourself to give this a try. The combination of AHA and Omega 9 feels like a one-two punch of exfoliating and nourishing goodness. I’ll definitely be keeping these in my regular rotation because my hair has never felt this good.  Now excuse me while I flip my newly glossy hair dramatically.
