ELLE Replay: Revisiting The Most Viral Runway Moments Of 2024

Runway

2024. The year of celebrity sightings, stereotype defying dissent and bittersweet goodbyes. Runways this year were witness to numerous to-be viral moments that will still probably be talked about years down the line – indeed a revolutionary year in cementing the gravitational impact fashion continues to have, in arts and culture. Let’s revisit the best viral runway moments of 2024, in no particular order. Because this list has my indecision touching the skyline.

Janhvi Kapoor for Rahul Mishra, Paris Haute Couture Week

runway

Janhvi Kapoor made her runway debut abroad when she walked the runway for designer Rahul Mishra during Paris Fashion Week 2024, when he unveiled his Aura Couture Fall 2024 collection. The actor wore a stunning black bustier and skirt combination in a move that no industry insider saw coming.

Kylie Jenner for Coperni, Disneyland Paris

runway

When the reality TV show and businesswoman shut down Coperni’s spring 2025 fashion presentation at Disneyland Paris, the brand’s media impact value was valued as close to $17 million. Coperni’s love of technology and imagination were combined to create the theme park’s first fashion show, which was based on iconic Disney characters, such as princesses and villains.

Mika Schneider for Victoria’s Secret

When the highly anticipated Victoria’s Secret fashion show returned, millions of people watched to talk about everything from the models’ outfits to their walks. Additionally, a video of Mika Schneider stomping the catwalk with a very serious expression on her face went viral, prompting many people to criticise the model, saying she ‘didn’t want to be there’ because she lacked wings.

A$AP Rocky for AWGE

A$AP Rocky and AWGE debuted at Paris Fashion Week with their “American Sabotage” collection. Thirty carefully designed looks that explored the use of ghetto expressionism were included in the collection. With assistance from Bede Marchand, Coucou Bebe, and Joshua Jamal on the design.

Gwendoline Christie for Maison Margiela

What a show. What a concept. What a walk. Gwendoline Christie of GOT fame and a style icon in her own right closed the show for what has now become the last presentation by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. Heavy on theatrics and organic inclusivity. Love.

Bella Hadid for YSL

Marking her return after an almost two-year hiatus from the runway, Miss Hadid’s slick-haired, glasses intact look for YSL garnered immense media attention, much to the pleasure of her fans. Me included.

Alia Bhatt and Aishwarya Rai for L’Oréal Paris

Us Indians sure love some good red overseas, and ambassadors Alia Bhatt and Aishwarya Rai brought home glory after walking for the iconic beauty giant L’Oréal Paris, at their yearly Paris show amongst the likes of Kendall Jenner and Eva Longoria. The EMVs were off the charts.

Gigi Hadid and Travis Scott for Vetements

In a throwback to the days when Demna was still in charge of the business, Gigi Hadid swiftly followed Travis Scott, who opened the spring show for Vetements wearing a shiny black motorcycle leather, while she was wrapped in DHL tape throughout.

Ananya Panday for Rohit Bal, Lakmē Fashion Week A/W ‘24

I was there, and it was ethereal. May have shed a tear or two, will not elaborate. While no one knew that it would become Rohit’s last bow, the infectious energy at the closing with Ananya Panday in a way immortalised him and his creations.

The Urvashi Kaur Showcase, Lakmē Fashion Week S/S ‘24

runway

Veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah, well-known artist Santanu Hazarika, and gifted performers Tillotama Shome, Rasika Duggal, Faraz Ansari, and Suvir Saran were among Urvashi’s esteemed muses at the show. The ensemble of showstoppers was refreshing and the clothing worn by each muse was carefully chosen and designed to be a tangible representation of their individuality.
