Iconic Movie Hairstyles We Have Pinned To Our Boards For Hair Inspo

Movie hairstyles

Films have the power to inspire people; whether it’s clothes, makeup or hair, the movies are potent tools to bring forth iconic trends. Yes, we do care about the plot too, but a fabulous beauty moment can inspire trends. The look or hairstyle might not be wearable sometimes, but it makes a spot in our mood-board to draw inspiration. If you have tried to colour your hair like Harley Quinn or gotten Priyanka Chopra’s Desi girl hair cut, then you know what I mean. So if you are looking for some hairstyle inspo, these movie hairstyles could be your pick:

1. Amélie in Amélie

Audrey Tautou’s French-girl hairstyle in the film Amélie is one of the most loved bob cuts in cinematic history. It became a standout element of the film due to its subtle grunge and choppy edges. The cut was initially inspired by actor Louise Brooks’ bob in the film Pandora’s Box but the stylist decided to give Audrey’s hairstyle a less-structured finish.

2. Claire Standish in The Breakfast Club

Molly Ringwald ruled the 1980s, having starred in classic teen films like Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. Her gorgeous auburn bangs and short voluminous hair added to her girl-next-door appeal. She was a trendsetter and became known for her red voluminous hairdo and kept the look throughout her stardom. Stranger things’ character Vickie was a homage to Molly Ringwald and her classic look.

3. Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman

When we think of this classic movie, Julia Roberts’ curly red hair is the first thing that comes to mind. Fun fact: Julia’s red hair was stripped off of colour while filming the bathtub scene due to the strong detergent. Also, now that perms and big hair are everywhere don’t be shy to channel Vivian Ward’s iconic do. This is one of those movie hairstyles we would want to recreate in a heartbeat.

4. Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Holly Golightly’s glamorous looks are often imitated since the famous black dress and chignon updo has become a rememberable image for the film. Honestly, the look speaks for itself. Holly’s chunky blonde highlights and baby bangs paired with her diamond-studded tiara were gorgeous and will be forever admired.

5. Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

Since Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, her look has been cosplayed countless times. Harley’s baseball bat and ripped tights are an addition but the character is mainly known for her dip-dyed hair. The light blonde hair with pink and blue ends on each side, tied in two ponytails and face-framing pieces. As crazy as the character is, it was everybody’s Halloween costume in 2016.

6. Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Angelina Jolie’s long french braid was the definition of badass. So many millennial girls grew up wearing their hair in a long french braid to look like Lara Croft. The look is pretty low maintenance and wearable, especially when you are looking to mask the greasiness of the third-day hair.
