July 2024 is becoming an unforgettable month for Sir Lewis Hamilton and his fans. During the start of the month, the seven-time world champion clinched his first win after a gap of two and a half years at the British Grand Prix. And yesterday, the F1 driver announced his highly anticipated venture with Dior. The French luxury maison named Sir Lewis Hamilton as its latest menswear brand ambassador and guest designer of a new lifestyle (skiwear) collection.
As expected, the lineup looks promising in terms of designs and gives a sneak peek at Lewis’ personal style which is heavily inspired by street style and his African roots. The Mercedes driver has always been an advocate for sustainability in fashion, supporting eco-friendly methods and promoting conscious consumerism.
Talking about the collaboration, Lewis shared, “Working with Kim Jones and the talented team at Dior has been a dream, and I was honoured to be asked if I’d like to do this with him. Our values and ideas are aligned, making it easy to bring to life a creative collection infused with our shared experiences. Focusing on conscious choices and pushing boundaries with each piece while merging inspiration from my roots in Africa—drawing from their fabrics and belief in natural materials, as well as vibrant colours and powerful energy—has been so inspiring. I hope people everywhere feel good in these garments we designed so carefully.”
While the collection is scheduled to drop on October 17 in Dior boutiques and online for purchase, we are keeping an eye open for these five pieces:
1. B44 Blade LH sneakers
Calling all the sneaker-heads to bookmark this article. The collection includes a Snow Sneaker inspired by mountain boots plus a new model dubbed the B44 Blade LH after Lewis’ car number and initials.
2. Backpacks
While the collection features multiple backpacks, this particular bumblebee shade has our attention. Look at the detailed straps and panels.
3. Tweed and Woollen Pieces
The collection features an array of knitwear, from cable-knit sweaters to Dior-emblazoned jumpers, but we are definitely looking forward to the wool and tweed ensembles.
4. Man Bags
The Formula One driver has often been seen sporting the famous tiny Dior bag at the paddock during the F1 Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia at Jeddah Corniche Circuit and on other occasions. And here we have his own bag design for the brand.
5. Sunglasses
From ski glasses to casual shades, the drop has something for everyone. (Even for those who can’t visit, style the looks for a ski vacation.).
