K-pop releases and comebacks call for a big celebration. Curating campaigns, causing websites to crash and organising streaming parties on Station Head on Twitter, this is quite the event. Unlike western pop music, which usually follows a format – teaser then main music video drop – K-pop artists line up their calendars with activities and concept explanations beforehand. The concept is a quintessential part of K-pop; it gives the fans an insight into the mood and genre of the album. And if you dive into the calendars of any K-pop fan, you’ll see that March is running high on the beat business. This month kicked off with a smash hit collab single by BTS J-Hope and iconic rapper J-Cole’s On the street to TWICE‘s latest album Ready To Be.
But what makes March special is the number of K-pop stars going solo, like Jimin of BTS and Jisoo of BLACKPINK. Some of them are making their grand solo debuts, and some are releasing their much-anticipated solo comebacks like Bam Bam of GOT7; this month is definitely going to be musical for everyone.
