Sure this might be painting with broad strokes, but in the whole K-pop Industry, nobody does fashion like BTS member J-Hope. The rapper and songwriter keeps serving piping-hot looks everywhere, from his debut days to doing solos on the side. When J-Hope wears something, the featured brands better stock up, because it sells out. With legions of fans watching every move, everything he dons leaves a remarkable impact on his fans.
Moving on from Hobicore
He’s been the sunshine for the group for years, but he has now started to go edgier and sharper while making fashion choices. J-Hope’s debut solo album Jack in the Box showcases his emo-kid side. While his aesthetic has changed considerably, he does channel his “Hobicore” look quite often too. His love for KAWS and MURAKAMI are the key features of the hobicore aesthetics. The pop colours, Murakami flowers, lots of oversized clothing, chunky jewellery & most importantly good shoes, all create a stunning “Hobicore” aesthetic.
When it comes to music videos J-Hope goes all out, whether it is for Chicken Noodle Souple with Becky G or a classic three-piece suit for BTS’ ballad Black Swan. The rapper has been seen in some of the most sought-after looks like Kim Jones’ custom Dior outfit for his band’s world tour in 2019, the Balenciaga look at his listening party, Billie Eilish’s NIKE “Air Force 1” drop and the Louis Vuitton suit for the Grammy’s in 2021. Even though the star is serving in the military Armys around the world are eagerly waiting for his comeback.
And to celebrate his 30th birthday here are some of our favourite looks of the K-pop icon:
