When celebrities are not naming their kids ‘Pilot Inspektor’ or ‘Rocket Zot’, they can be heard dispensing some pretty useful parenting advice. For instance, a large percentage of parents all over the world yelled ‘YAAAASSS’ in unison when Shah Rukh Khan confessed in an interview that he is not going to leave his (immense) fortune behind for his kids. Then there’s Christina Aguilera who walks naked around the house in order to express that she wasn’t ashamed of her sexuality. No judgements there. We’re all equals in Beyonce’s court and you do you, Christina.
Malaika Arora Khan and Shilpa Shetty
Malaika Arora Khan believes that taking care of yourself is paramount when it comes to being a good parent. “Self-care is something way too many women tend to neglect once they become wives and moms. I believe a lot of mothers forget about themselves while trying to take care of their families. They become too selfless,” she said in an interview, adding, “I feel every woman should be a little selfish in a good way. There will always be a hundred things to do but you must remember give some time to yourself too.” Unsurprisingly, Bollywood’s resident yoga enthusiast Shilpa Shetty is also a part of the same school of thought. The actress has asserted the importance of fitness in every working mom’s life on many occasions.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gordon Ramsay
Aside from good looks and a house to live in, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri’s three internet-breaking kids are not going to inherit anything else from their parents. When Shah Rukh sat down for an interview with Rajeev Masand, he revealed that he has nothing saved for a rainy day. He claimed that aside from a house, he is not going to leave anything behind for his children. “They live a basic life (rich, but basic) on their own will. We provide them with every requirement but we don’t have money saved for a rainy day for them to live-off,” he said. Chef extraordinaire and favourite insult-generator Gordon Ramsay, too, follows the same principle. In an interview with the Telegraph, the chef insisted that he is not going to just hand over his $160 Million to his children. “It’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them. The only thing I’ve agreed with Tana is they get a 25 per cent deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat,” he said.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jenny McCarthy
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jenny McCarthy want all new parents to understand the importance of staying in the moment. In an interview, McCarthy urged parents to enjoy every moment with their kids as they would grow up so fast that you wouldn’t even realise it. Aishwarya, who has been known to be hands-on with daughter Aaradhya also has the same advice. Don’t let the experience pass by without enjoying every moment, she says.
