The beautiful thing about jewellery is that it is inherently personal. A dainty pendant that tells tales of people you love, a story of an achievement and so much more. Increasingly, women are investing in statement pieces that are a reflection of their taste and what they stand for. Jewellery is also transcended occasional wear- it’s no longer limited to wedding wear – we are now wearing it to work, to play and everything in between.
A brand sits wonderfully at the confluence of jewellery and statement pieces is Zoya. The brand recently launched their boutique in Ambience Mall, Gurugram. The exquisite boutique with its contemporary design and artisanal soul, echoes Zoya’s unwavering commitment to impeccable craftsmanship. The tranquil interiors create a signature experience for women to pause and reconnect with their femininity.
For the unveiling of this boutique, Zoya’s Business Head, Amanpreet Ahluwalia was present and star power was brought in by the stunning Aditi Rao Hydari.
We caught up for quick chat with Aditi Rao Hydari to understand how her relationship with jewellery.
ELLE: What does jewellery mean to you?
Aditi Rao Hydari: I’ve always loved jewellery, because you can create something that’s uniquely your own. It’s like a piece of wearable art that tells a story. Buying jewellery for yourself, is a celebration of who you are. When you think of what the most important investments in life are, the biggest is investing in your own happiness. Buying a piece of jewellery that celebrates you, your special milestones, is like putting that moment you patted yourself on the back into something timeless. I think this is also Zoya’s philosophy and its why I relate to the brand.
ELLE: What is a piece of jewellery you’ve inherited that you love?
Aditi: My grandfather gave me a bracelet when I was 12. It was very special, because it belonged to his mother and maybe even her mother before that.
ELLE: Tell us something from your jewellery collection that you think is extremely versatile
Aditi: My grandmother’s gold and emerald ring. I don’t wear jewellery every day, but I wear that very often with different outfits.
Pick some of your favourite pieces from Zoya
Aditi: I love the pieces I’m wearing today from Zoya. Everything is beautifully crafted. I love the colour of this deep blue tanzanite on the ring I’m wearing, and the way it’s set. Zoya is all about meaningful storytelling. My ring inspired by the glamour of the Hollywood in the 1920s. It’s also the collection that I first noticed in the store! The detailing on the necklace is beautiful. They told me that the design was inspired by the deep roots of ancient Amazonian rainforests, which is a lovely metaphor for strength.
How does jewellery make you feel more feminine?
Aditi: When a piece of jewellery speaks to you, and you wear it and it makes you feel special, then it’s no small thing. I think to be happy is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
