Fed up of every other celebrity launching their beauty brand? It looks like celebrities got the memo too. We’re seeing a new trend of Bollywood and Hollywood stars turn towards the lifestyle space. From Taapsee Pannu to Bella Hadid, here are 7 celebrity lifestyle brands that launched this year.
1. Dua Lipa’s Service 95
The pop singer now makes her way into our inbox with her recently launched Service 95–a weekly newsletter that offers ‘style, culture and society concierge service.’ Through this platform, Dua will share her travel and food recommendations with subscribers. “Powerful articles from the world’s most compelling voices will live alongside savvy social commentary, laugh-out-loud feature-writing, and left-of-center recommendations for anything from late-night snacks to the best in-flight music for long-haul trips,” shared the singer in a statement on Instagram. Now isn’t this a handy guide for the times we’re planning a trip abroad? Additionally, the newsletter will feature the important work of activists that highlights causes and complex world issues.
2. Taapsee Pannu’s Laiqa
The Bollywood star turns co-founder and chief innovation officer of menstrual hygiene brand, Laiqa. The actor aims to draw from her own experiences and make periods a healthy and hygienic experience for women through its chemical-free products. “I’ve grown up in households where the majority are women, and yet periods are considered taboo. I have gone through so many issues related to my periods, which in turn affected my body, and yet I thought it was normal because I didn’t know any better. Today I have the power and platform to make a difference, and what better way to use it than associating with a brand that believes in the same,” she shared with us.
3. Bella Hadid’s Kin Euphorics
The supermodel recently took to Instagram to share her battle with mental health. And prior to this, Bella had also shared that she is partnering with Kin Euphorics, a non-alcoholic adaptogenic drink brand that promises to boost mood, and alleviate stress and anxiety. Sharing the news on social media, Bella narrated how she met the brand’s founder and CEO, Jen Batchelor and how the drink helped her deal with her own anxiety and depression. “The reason why I am coming on with Kin, is not only to consistently give you new formulas, creatives and products, but to also teach you about brain health and how we can help with the social, personal, physical, and mental pressures we face on a regular basis,” she explained.
4. Malaika Arora’s Nude Bowls
It came as no surprise when the OG Bollywood fitness enthusiast launched a brand that focuses on healthy eating. The delivery-only service is called NUDE Bowls with NUDE standing for Nutritious Undisguised Delicious Eats. “Being a foodie, I love to eat. While the occasional binge on desserts and greasy food does entice me, I usually prefer wholesome food that makes me feel good and keeps me going through the day. A meal as simple as a crunchy salad or a warm curry rice bowl can do the trick too, as long as it’s tasty and enjoyable,” Malaika had shared on Instagram. The star is also actively involved in planning the menu and ensuring sustainable packaging.
5. Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila
The supermodel and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star launched her own tequila brand earlier this year. However, she was accused by the Mexican and Latin community (as the alcohol is only produced inside the Mexican state of Jalisco) of cultural appropriation and criticised for exploitation of its workers as soon as she announced it. Following the backlash, she cleared that her brand’s goal was to be “something that was approachable, aesthetically pleasing, socially aware, gender-neutral and friendly to the planet” on Jimmy Fallon’s show. In an effort to give back to the community of Jalisco, her team found a way to take the agave waste — the agave fibers and the water waste — and convert it into sustainable brick, which is being donated to build homes for people in need.
6. Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Sona
Following the launch of her haircare brand Anomaly, the global dominator entered the culinary world with Maneesh Goyal and David Rabin to launch an Indian restaurant, Sona this year. Located in the buzzing city of New York, the menu ranges from Tequila pani puri and Crab Caviar Puri to delectable plates such as Bengali Mustard Tofu Kasundi, Stuffed Butter Chicken, Pink Snapper Ceviche served with Kokum Coconut Broth, among other interesting options.
7. Deepika Padukone’s Upcoming Lifestyle Brand
The Bollywood star announced mid-year that she is set to launch her own lifestyle brand with a global reach. As of now, she has only revealed that the first category will delve into skincare and beauty. We’re yet to hear more from the star including the name of her upcoming venture.
